The Daniel Fast is a consecration for the purpose of God working special victories. Pastor Joel spoke about consecration on Sunday and the value of it, the significance of it, and how it pleases Father for us to consecrate ourselves to Him, His purposes and His promises.
What makes a vessel special and makes it a vessel of honor is simply that it is set apart. Not that the item itself has to be of a special substance, but that it is set apart. One item of porcelain we have in our home could be for special meals and we honor it in the china hutch. Another item of porcelain is in the bathroom. We have set the special porcelain apart, made it special, and would never think of putting something vial, something unclean in it. It has been consecrated for a higher purpose.
We too are setting our lives apart. We will not allow the unclean, we will be filled with the precious oil of the Holy Spirit. The fasting period is a further setting apart and consecration for the purpose of hearing from heaven, gaining answers in prayer, and drawing near to Father.
Don’t think for a minute that Father is not pleased. This is a powerful time that captures His attention, because He’s not required this action, you are making this choice of consecration on your own.
I love what she pointed out that consecration was a key to entering in to the promise. Again the Lord is bringing up the term “promise.” I’m getting the idea that He wants you to enter in to what He has promised. So He is also asking us to consecrate ourselves so He can do wonders!
Joshua 3:1-5 – Then Joshua rose early in the morning; and he and all the sons of Israel set out from Shittim and came to the Jordan, and they lodged there before they crossed. At the end of three days the officers went through the midst of the camp; and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God with the Levitical priests carrying it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it. However, there shall be between you and it a distance of about 2,000 cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you shall go, for you have not passed this way before.”
Then Joshua said to the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
